Local Gutter Solutionists

Gutter work for San Pablo’s 1940s and 1950s bungalows on close-set lots

San Pablo is compact, and so is the housing. Most of the city went up in the 1940s and 1950s as small single-story bungalows on narrow lots, with low-pitch hip roofs, composition shingle, shallow fascia and gutters that were often sectional galvanized steel from the day the house was built. Seventy years on, the seams drip, the hangers have pulled, and the fascia behind them has gone soft in places. With lots this close together, an overflowing gutter can run straight onto the neighbor’s side yard. Liquidambar, sycamore and camphor street trees fill the troughs every fall, Wildcat Creek keeps the low ground damp, and the fog and bay air reaching up from Richmond keep steel gutter rusting through the winter.

We form seamless aluminum, copper and bonderized steel gutter on site and cut it to your roofline, replace soft fascia first, hand clean the runs and outlets, repair sagging hangers and leaking corners, and install BroGuard non-combustible metal micro-mesh on homes under heavy street trees. Licensed and insured, locally owned in the East Bay, and backed by a franchise system founded in 1999 with more than 25 years of gutter work behind it.

Why the Brothers

Why San Pablo Homeowners Call the Brothers

01Small homes get the same care

A thousand square foot bungalow has short runs and tight corners. We form each piece on site so it fits the roof it is going on, not a generic one.

02Fascia first, then gutter

On 1940s and 1950s San Pablo homes the wood behind the gutter is often the real failure. We replace it before we hang anything.

03Water kept on your side of the line

With neighbors a few feet away, where the downspout lands matters. We route it to the street or a drain, not the fence line.

04Solutionists, not salespeople

Free quote, honest answer, no pressure. Licensed, insured and locally owned, with every review published, positive or negative.

San Pablo Gutter Questions, Answered

Is it worth replacing gutters on a small 1950s house in San Pablo?

If you plan to keep the house, yes. A small bungalow has less gutter than a big tract home, so replacement is a modest job, and it protects the fascia, the stucco and the foundation on a lot with very little setback. If only a section has failed we will say so. If the steel has rusted through in several places, seamless aluminum is the honest fix.

My gutters overflow between the house and my neighbor’s. What can be done?

Two things usually. First, the run is probably back-pitched or clogged at the one outlet on that side, so it needs cleaning and re-hanging to fall toward the downspout. Second, that downspout needs somewhere to go besides the side yard. We run it to the front or back and out to the street or a drain so it stops soaking the strip between the houses.

Should I choose aluminum or steel gutters in San Pablo?

Aluminum. The original galvanized steel on most San Pablo homes rusted because bay air and winter fog get into the seams. Seamless aluminum does not rust, comes in colors that match the trim, and has no seams along the run to fail. Copper is an option if you want something that lasts fifty years and suits an older home.

What do hip roofs mean for my gutters?

A hip roof drains on all four sides, so a small San Pablo bungalow has four short runs instead of two long ones. Each one needs its own fall toward an outlet, and corners are where old sectional gutter leaks first. We form each run on site with mitered corners sealed properly, and make sure every side has a downspout that drains somewhere useful.

How often should gutters be cleaned in San Pablo?

Once a year in late fall is enough for most homes, after the liquidambar and camphor street trees drop and before the winter storms. Homes right under mature trees or near Wildcat Creek may need a spring check too. If nobody in the house wants to be on a ladder, BroGuard micro-mesh or the maintenance program takes it off your list.
