Developer David Bohannon, one of the big mass builders of his day, built it under a federal government contract. About 3,000 people live in roughly 745 homes packed into less than a fifth of a square mile. El Portal Drive runs along one side, and Rollingwood Drive, Fordham Street, Greenwood Drive, Devon Way, Arundell Way, Baywood Lane and Bowhill Lane fill in the rest.
