Local Gutter Solutionists

Gutter service for El Cerrito hill streets and older flats

El Cerrito incorporated in August 1917 and has been a built-out city for a long time. Around 25,962 people live here now, on a grid that runs from the flats along San Pablo Avenue up into hill streets that end at Wildcat Canyon Regional Park, with Albany and Kensington below it and the Richmond annex to the west. It is mature housing stock, which is a polite way of saying a lot of these homes are working with gutter systems that have been up there a very long time.

The hill streets are where we get called most. Long roof faces, deep valleys, mature oak, bay and eucalyptus overhead, and one downspout discharging at the top of a slope. Water leaving a roof up there has to go somewhere, and when the run is undersized it goes down the wall and into the soil at the uphill corner of the house. Down in the flats the problem is usually age: narrow original runs, hangers worked loose out of decades-old fascia, and outlets that were never resized when the house got added onto.

We form seamless aluminum on-site so every run comes off the truck at the exact length of your roofline, size the downspouts to the actual roof, and route the discharge out past the foundation instead of letting it sit at the wall. Licensed and insured, and everything is quoted in writing before anyone starts.

Why the Brothers

Why El Cerrito Homeowners Call the Brothers

01Old houses, honest answers

An original run on a 1920s bungalow needs different work than a hill remodel from the 1980s. We tell you which one you have and quote what the house actually needs.

02Formed in your driveway

Our truck carries the machine, so every run is rolled on-site to the exact length of your roofline. No factory seams to fail in the first winter storm.

03Built for a canyon edge

BroGuard is non-combustible metal mesh, not plastic. It keeps oak, bay and eucalyptus litter out of the trough on streets that back onto Wildcat Canyon.

04A locally owned East Bay team

You get a local crew, a written quote and a straight answer about what your roofline actually needs. No call center, no pressure.

“I had leaking gutters that needed sealing. The Brothers sent out a person to do a quote. The person was well knowledged about gutters. I was already thinking of putting in gutter guards and they proposed a guard that would work with my current gutters… The two installers were friendly and explained everything clearly.”

El Cerrito Gutter Questions, Answered

How often should El Cerrito gutters be cleaned?

Twice a year for most homes, and more if you are on a hill street under oak, bay or eucalyptus. Clear them before the first real rain and again at the end of winter, and add a check after any hard wind that drops debris on the roof.

My gutters are original to the house. Is repair or replacement better?

On an older El Cerrito home it is usually replacement. The original runs are narrow, the hangers have worked loose out of old fascia, and patching one section tends to move the failure a few feet down the line. We will tell you honestly if a repair will hold.

Do gutter guards make sense next to Wildcat Canyon?

Yes, and the material matters. BroGuard is non-combustible metal mesh rather than plastic or foam, so it keeps oak, bay and eucalyptus litter out of the trough without adding something flammable to the roofline.

Do you serve Kensington, Albany and Richmond too?

Yes. We cover El Cerrito, Kensington, Albany, the Richmond annex, East Richmond Heights, Berkeley and the rest of our West County and East Bay territory.

Can you fix water pooling against the foundation?

Usually yes. On a slope the problem is almost always where the downspout ends rather than the gutter itself. We resize the outlets and run the discharge past the foundation so the water leaves instead of soaking in at the wall.
