Twice a year for most homes, once in late fall before the storms and once in late spring after the oaks flower. Houses under big oaks, pines or eucalyptus often need a third visit, since those trees drop leaves, needles and bark at different times of year. We extend downspouts to a stable discharge point or connect them to a buried drain line, and we pitch the gutters so each outlet carries a fair share of the roof. We walk the lot with you and put the options in writing.
It depends on what is behind them. Three out of four homes in 94708 were built before 1960, and on many of them the fascia has taken years of drips. We check the gutters, hangers and fascia first. If the wood is sound, a repair may be enough. If the seams leak and the boards are soft, a seamless replacement with new fascia is the better value.
