Happy Valley Gutter Solutionists

Gutters for big wooded lots in Lafayette’s Happy Valley

Happy Valley is the wooded stretch of Lafayette north of Highway 24 and downtown, following Happy Valley Road into Upper Happy Valley, with Happy Valley Elementary School at its center and Briones Regional Park reaching into the north end of the city. Homes sit on large, sloping lots under mixed woods and oak woodland. Lafayette’s ZIP 94549 is one of the strongest gutter markets in the East Bay: 76 percent of homes are detached houses, 79 percent are owner-occupied, the median home was built in 1962 and three out of four predate 1980. The Lafayette 1.9 WSW station averages 26.75 inches of rain a year.

Mohammad Awadalla and Syed Rizwan own The Brothers That Just Do Gutters San Ramon, a family business, and our crews reach Happy Valley from our base in Livermore. We form seamless aluminum, copper and bonderized gutters in 5, 6 and 7 inch sizes at the house, clean every run by hand and flush every downspout, repair leaks, sags and rotted fascia, install BroGuard stainless micro-mesh, and run underground drainage to carry roof water away from the foundation. Scheduled maintenance plans are available. Licensed (CSLB #1115646), insured, and 4.9 stars on Google.

On a Happy Valley lot the trees are the job. Oaks drop leaves, acorns and catkins for months, roofs sit close to the canopy and long runs wrap around additions and decks. We size gutters and downspouts for heavy winter storms, guard them against leaf litter and carry the water off the slope.

02Ready for the oaks

BroGuard stainless micro-mesh keeps leaves, acorns and catkins out of the trough, and it will not burn.

Happy Valley Gutter Questions, Answered

How often should gutters be cleaned in Happy Valley?

Most Happy Valley homes need two cleanings a year, one in late fall after the oaks drop and one in late spring after the catkins. Homes right under the canopy often need a third. Lafayette averages close to 27 inches of rain a year, so a clear system before the first big storm matters. BroGuard stainless micro-mesh keeps most of the debris out and cuts down the cleanings.

Our gutters overflow in heavy rain even when they are clean. Why?

On large roofs the gutter or downspout is often too small for the amount of water coming off it, or the run has lost its pitch. We measure the roof areas feeding each run and can step up to 6 or 7 inch seamless gutters, add downspouts or re-pitch the system so it keeps up with a winter storm.

Where should downspouts go on a sloping Happy Valley lot?

Away from the foundation and not straight onto the slope or the driveway. We extend downspouts to a stable discharge point or connect them to a buried drain line that carries water across the lot. We walk the property with you, look at where water goes today and put the options in writing.

Do metal gutter guards make sense under Lafayette’s oaks?

For most homes here, yes. Leaves and acorns sitting in a gutter hold water and rot the trough, and dry leaves at the roof edge are a weak point in fire season. BroGuard is stainless steel micro-mesh, so it keeps that debris out and will not burn. Use the fire zone check on this page to look up your address.

Do you serve all of Happy Valley and Lafayette?

Yes. We work along Happy Valley Road and in Upper Happy Valley, plus Reliez Valley, Burton Valley, downtown Lafayette, Orinda and Walnut Creek. Call (925) 905-9555 and we will set up a free written estimate.
