Gutters for orchard country on Alhambra Creek

Alhambra Valley sits in the Briones Hills southwest of downtown Martinez, where Alhambra Creek and Arroyo del Hambre wind past ranch homes on large, open lots. Dr. John Strentzel settled here in 1853 and grew it into the orchards and vineyards John Muir later managed. Today about 800 people live in the valley, and more than nine in ten homes are owner-occupied. Streets branch off Alhambra Valley Road and Briones Road: Millthwait Drive, Stonehurst Drive, Via Vaqueros and Brookwood Drive, which ends at the Alhambra Creek Staging Area of Briones Regional Park.

The housing spans seventy years. About a quarter of homes date to the 1950s, another big group to the 1980s, and a newer wave of homes has gone up since 2010. Trees are the constant. The creek corridor is lined with willows, cottonwoods, sycamores, big-leaf maples and valley oaks, and the hillsides carry coast live oak and blue oak. Maple and sycamore leaves are large enough to cap a downspout outlet in one storm, and cottonwood fluff in spring mats into a felt along the trough floor.

The Brothers That Just Do Gutters San Ramon is owned by Mohammad Awadalla and Syed Rizwan and based in Livermore. Across the valley we form seamless gutters in the driveway, clean by hand, repair leaks and sagging sections, replace fascia, and install BroGuard micro-mesh. Larger roofs often need 6 inch gutters to handle winter storms. Lots that face Briones grassland are worth a look with our fire zone gutter check. We also serve Martinez and Reliez Valley. California Contractor License No. 1115646.

Why the Brothers

Why Alhambra Valley Homeowners Call the Brothers

01Broadleaf know-how

Sycamores, maples and cottonwoods clog gutters differently than pines. We set cleanings and guards for the trees along Alhambra Creek.

02Sized for big roofs

Larger Alhambra Valley homes shed a lot of water in a winter storm. We size gutters and downspouts to the roof, not to a default.

03Careful on creek lots

We route downspouts to stable outlets or buried lines so roof water does not undercut a bank or pool against a foundation.

04Local owners

The crew answers to Mohammad Awadalla and Syed Rizwan in Livermore. Call (925) 905-9555 for a free written estimate in Alhambra Valley.

“I had leaking gutters that needed sealing. The Brothers sent out a person to do a quote. The person was well knowledged about gutters. I was already thinking of putting in gutter guards and they proposed a guard that would work with my current gutters… The two installers were friendly and explained everything clearly.”

Alhambra Valley Gutter Questions, Answered

How often should Alhambra Valley gutters be cleaned?

Most Alhambra Valley homes need two visits: one when the sycamore and maple leaves are down, and one in late spring once the cottonwood seed has blown through. Homes right on the creek with heavy canopy may need a third visit. With BroGuard installed, most homeowners only need an occasional check.

Will guards stop cottonwood fluff?

Mostly, yes. Cottonwood seed fluff is light and fibrous, and it slips through coarse screens and foam inserts. BroGuard is a fine stainless mesh, so the fluff collects on top, dries and blows off rather than matting inside the trough. In a heavy seed year a quick brush-off may help, but the gutter itself stays open.

Do bigger homes in Alhambra Valley need 6 inch gutters?

Often they do. A large roof with long, uninterrupted runs sends more water into each gutter than a 5 inch profile and small downspouts can carry in a hard winter storm. We measure the roof area and pitch on every Alhambra Valley home and recommend 5 or 6 inch based on the numbers, then put it in writing.

Is fire a concern for gutters near Briones?

On lots that face open grassland it is worth planning for. Dry leaves in a gutter can catch embers, and plastic or vinyl parts at the eave can melt. Our gutters and BroGuard are metal, and keeping the trough clear removes the fuel. Use our fire zone gutter check to see how your address is mapped.

Do you cover the whole valley?

Yes. We work every part of Alhambra Valley, from Alhambra Valley Road and Via Vaqueros to Millthwait Drive, Stonehurst Drive and the homes off Briones Road. Call (925) 905-9555 to book a free written estimate on a day that works for you.
